Unique Roulette Variants

August 20, 2010

Hybridization is a mantra that is today prevalent in all spheres of life. Taking the best from two different varieties to produce a superior one is a fascinating concept. Even online gaming software providers are not immune from this attraction. This article discusses three roulette variants that draw upon other online casino games to enhance the level of excitement and interest.

The key to roulette is to select one number from 0 and 1 to 36 in a manner that is totally random. This is done through a ball spinning against the roulette wheel. But it could be done in any other fair manner as well. Pinball Roulette developed by Playtech employs a pinball mechanism to generate the number randomly. After the bets are placed in the normal roulette screen the pinball display takes over. The plunger releases the ball into the main areas. The ball hits the bumpers and changes directions several times thus ensuring randomness. At the bottom is strip of wells with the roulette numbers marked on them. They follow the same sequence as in the wheel but instead of appearing in a circular formation they appear horizontally. This strip is in motion and ultimately the ball falls into one of the wells. The number etched on the well is the number called and bets are paid out in the normal manner. In Pinball Roulette the player has the option of staking the payout received in a gamble game that is played on a different pinball machine. Pinball Roulette can be played in all Playtech online casinos. CasinoAdvisor recommends Casino Tropez, Omni Casino and Casino Del Rio.

The other two unique roulette variants have been developed by WagerWorks. One of them incorporates the concept of free spins from online slot games. This is Double Bonus Spin Roulette. In online slot games when the specified number of scatter or bonus symbols appears on the reels players are awarded free spins. In Double Bonus Spin Roulette the wheel has an additional yellow well that is not numbered. If the ball comes to rest in the yellow well then the free spin is activated. No additional wager need be placed. In the Double Bonus Spin two blue lights independently rotate around the wheel stopping next to two numbers. If any of those numbers are covered by a standing bet the player receives the usual payouts.

The second unique roulette variant from WagerWorks is 3 Wheel Roulette. It incorporates the concept of multihand play from video poker. In multihand video poker players can wager on a number of hands to start with and these hands are then independently assessed against the payout table. In 3 Wheel Roulette there are three roulette wheels that spin simultaneously and concentrically but independently. The bets are placed on the common layout and the same bets apply to all wheels. There is a common set of wells for all three wheels. The ball falls into a well and the three wheels stop one after another. The three numbers aligned with the well are the called numbers. The bets covered by any of the numbers are paid out. A bonus payout of 1000 to 1 is offered if the called numbers on all three wheels are 0. Double Bonus Spin Roulette and 3 Wheel Roulette can be played at all WagerWorks online casinos. CasinoAdvisor recommends Virgin Casino.
