RTG 7 Card Stud Online Casino Poker

May 25, 2010

At one time 7 Card Stud was the most popular poker variant. Then Texas Hold’em took over. In 7 Card Stud players are dealt seven cards in stages, with betting rounds in between. In the end the player with the best 5 card poker hand from the seven cards dealt wins the pot. The leading online gaming software provider Realtime Gaming (RTG) has developed a casino game that closely simulates 7 Card Stud. Players match their hand against a payout table instead of against other players. This game is called 7 Stud Poker and is listed in the Video Poker section at RTG online casinos.

The game begins with the player placing the first wager that can be up to 5 coins. The coin size varies from $0.05 to $5.00. Seven cards are dealt face down and the first and third cards are turned face up. If the player thinks he has a weak hand he can click the Deal All button and expose all his cards. However if the player thinks that these cards can lead to a strong hand he can place a second wager that is the maximum of his first wager. If the player has wagered 4 coins in his first wager then he can wager up to 4 coins in his second wager. He then clicks the Deal button to expose the fifth card.

Again the player has the option of exposing all the remaining cards without placing any additional wager or placing the third wager that can be at most equal to the second wager.  If the player places the third wager then the sixth card is exposed. The player can finally place the fourth wager and then expose the remaining cards all at once or do so directly without placing any wager.

The player’s best 5 card poker hand is highlighted. This is compared against the payout table. A hand that is lower than 3 of a Kind does not pay. 3 of a Kind pays at 1 to 1. The highest payout is for Royal Flush that pays 25 to 1. The payouts are multiplied by the total coins wagered. In RTG Stud Poker the payout table automatically adjusts for the number of coins wagered and indicates the total payout in coins.

RTG 7 Stud Poker has the Double or Nothing Bonus Round. This comes into play when the player has a hand that is Straight or better. In this round six cards are dealt face up and one card is dealt face down. The player must predict whether the face down card is big (8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, or King) or small (Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6). If he chooses correctly he doubles his stake, otherwise he loses it.

RTG 7 Stud Poker also offers a Bonus Bet. Players have to select a card value and then get a Four of a Kind, a Straight Flush or a Royal Flush using that card value. In order to win the Bonus Bet, players must place all four wagers. There is a separate payout table for the Bonus Bet.

7 Stud Poker can be played in all RTG online casinos such as Club World, Aladdin’s Gold, Cherry Red and Slots Oasis.
