Fourth Card Let It Ride Online Casino Strategy

February 05, 2010

In online casino Let It Ride, players start by placing three equal wagers. After the player sees his dealt hand of three cards he can withdraw one of his wagers. The strategy that the player employs at this stage is known as third card Let It Ride strategy. One of the community cards is then exposed and after the player sees four of the five cards that will make his final hand he can again to withdraw one wager if he wants to. The strategy that the player employs after seeing four cards is known as fourth card Let It Ride strategy.

This article discusses the fourth card betting strategy. The strategy describes the four card hands on which the player should let the bets ride. The hands are listed below.

  • If the player has a hand that is already paying out then he should let the remaining wagers ride. Four of a kind pays out 50 to 1 in most online casinos. Three of a kind is also a paying hand, with the possibility of an improvement to four of a kind. Two pairs is also a paying hand, with the possibility of an improvement to full house. The lowest paying hand is tens or better, which has several improvement possibilities.

  • Players should let the wagers ride if they hold four cards to a royal flush. This is the big one and the maximum money should be on the table. Even if a royal flush is ultimately not on the cards there is a good chance of drawing a flush, a straight or tens or better. Though four cards to a straight flush is not as good, players should let the wagers ride when they hold this hand.

  • When a player holds for cards to a flush, he needs any of nine cards from the remaining 48. This gives him odds of about 4.3 to 1. Most online casinos pay out at 8 to 1. Therefore players must let the wagers ride.

  • With four cards to an open-ended straight the mathematical expectation is zero. There is nothing to lose or nothing to gain by letting the wagers ride. However if one or more of the four cards is a 10 or higher ranked card then there is the additional chance of drawing a tens or better. In that case the strategy says that the player should definitely let the wagers ride. A point to note is that whereas it is prudent to let the wagers ride with four cards to an open-ended straight, a wager should be pulled when the player holds four cards to a one-way straight or to an inside straight. This is because in the former case any of two cards can complete a winning hand whereas in the latter case only one card can complete a winning hand. Therefore the chance of drawing a winning hand decreases considerably.

In all other cases the players should pull one of the wagers. If the player has already pulled one wager after the third card then he will be left with only one wager on the table. If he has not pulled any wager after the third card then he will be left with two wagers on the table.
