Specialty Online Casino Games from Vegas Technology

November 4, 2009

All online gaming software providers have a category called specialty games in their portfolio. This category contains certain unique games that are not offered by other software providers. Vegas Technology also provides some unique games in its specialty games category. Three of these games Poker Slots, Bingo Bucks and Dazzling Dice offer both novelty and excitement.

These games are sort of a cross between video poker and slots. Poker Slots is used as an example to illustrate how these games work. As in the case of video poker the pay table consists of poker hand rankings. However unlike in video poker cards are not dealt into independent hands. 25 cards are randomly arranged in a five by five grid. Each position in the grid is dealt from a separate deck of 52 cards. Paylines crisscross across the grid as in online slot games. There are 12 paylines. 5 of these run horizontally, 5 of these run vertically and 2 run diagonally. If any of the paylines display winning combinations as per the payout table then the player receives the appropriate payout.

The payouts begin with 5 coins for Two Pairs and go up to 1,000 coins for a royal flush. The coin size varies from $0.25 to $5.00. Players can enable between 1 and 12 paylines. Actually Poker Slots makes sense playing with all paylines enabled. Therefore the maximum wager can go up to as high as $60. The wagered amount is shown in the Bet cell. After placing the wager the player clicks the Deal button to deal the cards. The amount won, if any, is displayed in the Win cell.

Bingo Bucks and Dazzling Dice are structurally the same as Poker Slots but visually different. In Bingo Bucks bingo balls are used instead of playing cards. The balls have symbols on them instead of numbers. The letters B, I, N, G and O constitute the Royal Flush. Some of the winning combinations in the payout table are tweaked versions of poker hands. The other symbols on the balls are $, Piggy Bank, Trees, Treasure Chest, Cupid, Clown and Seven.

Dazzling Dice uses dice instead of playing cards or bingo balls. The six faces of the dice have playing cards symbols from nine to ace. Because fewer symbols are used the winning combinations are more likely to appear and therefore the payouts are lower. Three of a Kind pays out 2 coins and Five of a Kind pays out 100 coins. The intermediate winning combinations are Full House, Four of a Kind, Low Straight and High Straight.

It has been reported that these specialty games at Vegas Technology online casinos have a house edge of around 6.5% or in other words an average payout ratio of 93.5%. This means that for every $100 players wager they will get back only $93.5 in the long run. The average payout ratio of these games is less than that of online slots. Hence while it may be entertaining to play Poker Slots, Bingo Bucks and Dazzling Dice once in a while these games should not become the staple diet for online casino players.
