Online Casino Bonuses and Rewards

October 31, 2008

Online casinos operate in a competitive environment and therefore need to project themselves as unique in order to draw traffic. Unfortunately there are only a handful of online gaming software providers and the online casinos powered by a software provider have a similar game range and variety. Hence uniqueness cannot be created on the basis of game range. Therefore online casinos differentiate themselves on the basis of bonuses they offer. There are many different types of bonuses.

Match Bonuses

These are the most common bonuses offered to new players to entice them to sign up with the online casino. The player first makes a deposit and the online casino offers a matching bonus in proportion to the deposit. There is an upper limit on the bonus offered. This bonus extends the player’s bankroll and hence is very popular.

No Deposit Bonuses

These bonuses are also offered to new players. The attraction is that the player is not required to make any deposit. The online casino offers him a bonus upfront for the purpose of trying out the games in the casino. No deposit bonuses are usually much smaller than match bonuses.

Monthly Bonuses

The match bonuses and no deposit bonuses are one-time affairs. Online casinos need to regularly cultivate existing players and prevent them from migrating to other casinos. Therefore these players are offered monthly bonuses. Here too the players have to make a deposit first and the casino offers a matching bonus. But this is not restricted to signing up and is offered month in and month out. Hence the bonus is called “monthly bonus”. There is a cap on the amount of bonus that can be availed in a given month.

High Roller Bonuses

Online casinos make most of their money through the few players who wager huge amounts and are known as high rollers. Therefore the high rollers are treated differently from other players. The bonuses offered to high rollers are structured differently. Most noticeably there are no limits or the limits are very high running into thousands of dollars. To avail of this the players are expected to make large single deposits.

Loyalty Rewards Programs

Another way of rewarding regular players is through loyalty rewards programs. For each dollar wagered by the player he gets certain comp points. These comp points are accumulated and when they reach a specified limit they are converted to playing credits, which are like bonuses. The comp points can also be used for buy-ins to tournaments. Usually players are classified into various levels of a V.I.P. Club with the high rollers being at the highest level. The players in the higher levels get faster accumulation and redemption of comp points along with other benefits like free entries to guaranteed prize tournaments.
