Redemption Of Online Casino Bonuses

March 10, 2009

All online casinos offer bonuses in order to attract players. However the mechanism of bonus redemption differs from online casino to online casino. There are two broad generic methods of bonus redemption and players need to understand the basics of both.

One method is known as the automated bonus redemption. Under this method as soon as the player complies with the eligibility conditions for the bonus, the bonus amount is automatically credited to the player’s account. No request or claim need be made by the player. For example if by depositing $100 the player is entitled to a bonus of $50, then as soon as the player’s $100 is received in his account with the casino cashier the casino will automatically transfer $50 to the account. In the second system the player will need to redeem his bonus at the time of purchasing casino credits in order to be eligible for the bonus. This implies that when he is depositing the funds with the casino cashier he will have to enter the given bonus code. If he fails to enter the given bonus code then the casino will assume that he is not interested in the bonus and will not credit the bonus to his account.

Many online casinos factor in the possibility that the player can forget to enter the bonus code and leave a window open for the player to claim the bonus later. Without wagering any part of the deposit the player should contact customer support and let them know that he is interested in the bonus and has forgotten to redeem it. The customer support will then make the required entries and credit the bonus to the player’s account. It is important to take this step before using any part of the deposit. Once a wager from the deposit is made then the bonus is lost unless the redemption process has been carried out. Hence it can be seen that bonuses that are automatically redeemed have a significant advantage. Some casinos offer multiple bonuses, letting players choose whether they want automatically redeemable bonuses or those that require codes to be entered. It makes sense to choose bonuses that are automatically redeemable.

One important lesson that can be learnt from this discussion is that players must completely understand the nature of the bonuses and the redeeming process before carrying out any financial transaction. The basic information is usually provided in the promotions section but the fine print is reserved for the section on bonus terms and conditions to which a link is provided. Players must make it a point not only to read that section but also understand it. In case of any doubt they should contact customer support and seek clarification. It is always better to be safe than be sorry.
