New Table Game from Microgaming

December 18, 2009

In its pack of new releases in December Microgaming has included a table game called Vegas 3 Card Rummy. It belongs to Microgaming's Gold Series of table games. 3 Card Rummy is a cross between rummy and 3 card poker. In rummy the players try to arrange all cards in allowed sequences. In a rummy game players keep drawing new cards from the deck and discarding from the hand till one player has all his cards in allowed sequences. The losing players set aside those cards that are in sequences and count points for the remaining cards. The objective is to end the session with minimum points.

This essential philosophy is maintained in 3 Card Rummy. But there is no drawing and discarding of cards. The dealt hand of the player is compared with the dealt hand of the dealer as in casino 3 card poker. The hand with the lower value wins. The hand is valued in the following manner. Ace has 1 point; ten, jack, queen and king have 10 points and others cards have their face value. If cards appear in certain combinations then those combinations have 0 value. For example if the hand has a triple or a 3 card run of the same suit then the hand has a 0 value and such a hand is the best hand. If a hand has a pair or a 2 card run of the same suit then that combination has a value of 0 and the value of the hand is the value of the third card. If all three cards are unrelated then the hand value is the sum of the value of the three cards.

The mechanics of wagering in Microgaming Vegas 3 Card Rummy is as follows. The player first places the Ante bet. The minimum is $1 and the maximum is $200. The player's three cards are dealt face up and the dealer's three cards are dealt face down. The player has to decide whether to fold or play. If he folds then he loses his Ante bet and the game is over. If he decides to play he has to place a Play bet equal to the Ante bet. The dealer's cards are turned face up and the hands compared.

The dealer has to have 20 or less in order to qualify. If he fails to qualify the Ante bet is paid even money and the Play bet pushes. If the dealer qualifies and wins the player loses both bets. If the dealer qualifies and loses then the Ante bet is paid even money and the Play bet is paid according to the player's hand value. The player can wager an optional Bonus bet that is assessed independent of the dealer's hand. If the player has a suited run of ace, two and three the payout is 100 to 1. If the player is dealt any other hand with 0 value the payout is 25 to 1. Other bonus payouts depend on the player's hand value.

Since Vegas 3 Card Rummy is a Microgaming Gold Series game it has elegant styling. It also offers a number of customization options and game statistics. The customization options include the usual speed and sound options. Players can also enable Auto Rebet and Turn on Quick Deal. Vegas 3 Card Rummy can be played at all Microgaming online casinos like Roxy Palace, River Belle, Platinum Play and All Slots.
